The spirit of Rotary friendship and international service was on full display as the Rotary Club of Carlsbad welcomed a delegation of 10 Rotarians from India District 3000. Accompanied by District Governor Dianne Crawford and past District Governor Janice Kurth—who currently chairs the District Friendship Exchange with District 3000—the visit marked a week of cultural exchange, adventure, and deepening Rotary bonds.
Several local Rotarians hosted our international guests, including three who stayed with Rotary Club of Carlsbad President Roy Meenes. The visitors spent the week sightseeing throughout San Diego and participating in a variety of community and club activities, including the Lakeside Rodeo and the District RYLA program.
At our club meeting, tradition took center stage as banners were exchanged between the Rotary Club of Carlsbad and six Indian Rotary Clubs. Janice Kurth introduced the Friendship Exchange Program after a lighthearted video showed our India guests dancing enthusiastically in a Del Mar parking lot—just one moment from a week filled with laughter, joy, and connection.
These Rotarians are not just community leaders—they are adventurers! While visiting, they’ve gone body surfing, skydiving, and fully immersed themselves in Rotary life here in Southern California. Their energy and joy have been contagious, and it’s been an honor for our club to host and get to know them.
The Friendship Exchange exemplifies what Rotary is all about—building global understanding, celebrating different cultures, and forming friendships that transcend borders.
