Griff Lewis Honored at the Army & Navy Academy Jon Higgins Golf Tournament and Gala
Last Friday, March 21st, the Army & Navy Academy hosted its Annual Jon Higgins Golf Tournament and Gala at the beautiful Links at Lakehouse on Lake San Marcos. Carlsbad Rotary’s own Griff Lewis organized a Rotary golf foursome, which included Griff, Jeff Schafer, Joe Donnelly, and Craig Turner. By all reports, they played an impressive round—Joe Donnelly was seen driving the ball right onto the green more than once! And, as some joked, the foursome managed to avoid a single bogey. Well done, team!
That evening, the Gala brought together Academy supporters for an inspiring celebration. Academy President Barry Shreiar honored recipients of the Distinguished Warrior Awards, a tradition since 2016 recognizing individuals and groups whose dedication strengthens the Academy’s mission. These honorees—parents, community partners, and alumni—are key to helping young men build character, resilience, and leadership for success in college and beyond.
We are proud to share that Griff Lewis was recognized as a Distinguished Warrior Community Honoree! President Shreiar highlighted Griff’s outstanding contributions, and Griff graciously spoke to attendees about the honor and what it meant to him.
