On Sunday, April 26, Carlsbad Rotarian Neil Black received a warm and emotional welcome home at San Diego International Airport after spending several days in Washington, D.C. as part of the Honor Flight program.

Honor Flight is a national nonprofit dedicated to honoring America’s veterans by bringing them to the nation’s capital to visit the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice. Neil was among 90 veterans from San Diego who participated in this unforgettable experience, which included visits to historic sites and ceremonies honoring their contributions to our country.

Joining Neil’s wife Vicky, daughter Tracy, and her boyfriend Chris at the airport were Carlsbad Rotary Club members Jeff and Kelly Schafer, Frank and Sandy Silva, Ray and Karen Pearson, and President Roy Meenes, who were all there to be part of the incredible homecoming celebration. More than 500 community members showed up waving flags, cheering, and showing their gratitude to the veterans as they arrived.

It was a proud and humbling moment for all who attended—and a powerful reminder of the importance of recognizing those who have served. Welcome home, Neil, and thank you for your service!
