Bob Rota, VP of Facilities and Security, presented Viasat’s new a 23-acre, 587,000-square-foot addition to its campus in Bressi Ranch, off El Camino Real and Palomar Airport Road. Now under construction, the first two of six buildings will be ready this fall and together with a four-acre park, the company’s 1,800 employees will have more places to eat, meet and play.
The new campus will feature a 10,000-square-foot atrium, shaded inside with a grove of trees, and a food hall with six food stations. The park will include hammocks, billiards played with your feet and tables for working and meeting in San Diego’s mild climate.
Located across the street from Viasat’s existing headquarters, the new campus is being built on a 23-acre site, which Viasat acquired in October 2015. The site is south of Gateway Road, north of Town Garden Road and west of Alicante Road. The campus expansion accommodates six office buildings, three parking structures, a cafe/conference center and recreational amenities for company employees.
The new campus is designed to embody Viasat’s culture of creativity, exploration, freedom and innovation, as well as foster interaction between employees, clients and visitors. The two- and three-story office buildings range in size from 77,000 to 120,000 square feet, and total 587,000 square feet of space.
Says Bob Rota, “We want our buildings to communicate who we are – that tech lives here. We care about our employees. We’re innovative. We solve difficult problems. What we try to do is create a myriad of indoor and outdoor spaces that really promote collaboration among our employees”.
