Joey Szalkiewicz gave us a great program tonight with his stories about climbing four of the Seven Summits (The Messner version: Everest, Aconcagua, Denali, Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Puncak Jaya and Vinson) by the tender age of 18.

Joey started with Kilimanjaro at age 12. He plans to complete the Seven Summits "soon". Joey's story goes beyond just climbing mountains - he is also doing it for a cause called Share The View (http://sharetheview.org/). Joey has vision challenges which make it necessary to wear glasses or contact lenses to see past his elbow and it was brought to his attention that in many parts of the world, good vision is a luxury and not easily attainable by many. So Joey has a mission to Share The View by raising money to buy glasses with the right prescription for people in need. You can read more about it on the website - and donate if you feel moved, as we were. Joey's parents Kym and Joe Szalkiewicz are supporting Joey in this goal on all levels - with Joe joining Joey on all of his climbs so far. Joey is a great example of a young person who is not only excelling physically, mentally and spiritually – but who is also of a mindset to give back to others in need. Kudos to Joey and his parents!
