Chris Berka, CEO & Co-founder of Advanced Brian Monitoring was the evening's speaker. Chris received her BA in Psychology/Biology at Ohio State University and completed graduate studies in Neuroscience at UCSD. She has 25 years experience managing clinical research and commercializing new technologies.
She is co-inventor of several patented technologies and served as the principal investigator for grants & contracts awarded by the National Institutes of Health, DARPA, ONR and NSF that provided more than $30 million of research funds to ABM. Chris Berka has 10 years experience as a research scientist with publications on the analysis of the EEG correlates of cognition in healthy subjects and patients with sleep and neurological disorders.

Advanced Brain Monitoring has pioneered development of mobile, scalable, easy-to-use platform technologies for analysis of sleep & awake EEG.  Over 1.5 million patients haven been diagnosed in the comfort of their homes with AMB technology. Used by 20,000 patients for the objective, in-home assessment of insomnia and other sleep quality complains

There are several benefits over traditional neuro-imaging biomarkers: Non-invasive; Unobtrusive; Cost-effective; Comfortable; Easy to apply.

In 2018, ABM and its research collaborators discovered two new sleep biomarkers associated with neurodegenerative disease. They created direct connections between brain and computers, prosthetics, robots or other smart devices. They provide rehabilitation to repair damaged neural pathways to ultimately restore functions for: Stroke; Spinal Cord Injury and Traumatic Brain Injury.

ABM helps improve our understanding of how people interact with technology and make purchase decisions. They facilitate peak performance training for golf, basketball, archery and marksmanship. The system teaches Leadership, Self-awareness, Empathy, Self-control and   Expertise.

The Team Processes used are Social interactions, Role assignment, Group dynamics and Workflows. It leverages EEG-based measures of cognition, emotion, leadership, and team processes to optimize individual and team performance. They predict team performance, characterize effective leaders, and use metric-based feedback to adapt and enhance team and leadership training.
