Come hear Megan McClatchy (yes, she IS related to Scott!) speak about Viasat's recent work in Hidalgo, Mexico. The short story is that they provided technology program that supports indigenous women and the communities that surround them. Sounds intriguing, right?

Come to the meeting to hear the rest of the story!

Guests are welcome at $37 per person.

This project is a keystone for RCC's Rotary year. Please consider coming!!
This event takes place in El Porvenir, Baja California -- about 2.5 hours driving from Carlsbad. You can come for the day, or stay for the weekend. We are working on options for itineraries that include: 

a. Saturday service only.
b. Saturday service plus hotel suggestions with other activities on your own.
c. Saturday service plus hotel suggestions, plus organized wine tasting on Friday and/or Saturday afternoon, plus organized group dinner on Saturday

At this time, we need to know if you will come for the day of service on the 15th.

When you reply, please note if you are coming just for the day or if you would like to consider overnight options (including wine tasting, dinner, hotel).
This way we can start planning for the group.

Please register by 10/15 if you would like to be included in the hotel, winetasting, and dinner options.

Also note that we will attempt carpooling, but cannot guarantee. Based on personal schedules of participants.

Benjamin Kettor, a fellow Rotarian, grew up in Liberia. As an adult, he brought Rotary to Liberian schools, using that connection to purchase computers for kids who'd never been exposed to technology. Come hear this story!!

The Rotary Club of Carlsbad’s 40th annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place from 2:15 to 4:45 p.m. in the south parking lot of the Carlsbad Village Faire shopping center at 300 Carlsbad Village Drive. This is a free community event with cider and cookies, crafts, story time, entertainment by local and school dance and music groups, and an opportunity for kids to tell Santa their holiday wishes. 

Join us in supporting the children of military families in need at Camp Pendleton by donating disposable diapers (any size), new unwrapped toys, and funds for the purchase of car seats. Donations will be collected online and at the Holiday Tree Lighting event.

Our own Laura Mitchell will present fascinating new technologies to assiste caregivers with in-home care.

Help support North County Lifeline's Adopt-A-Family Community Drop Off Day.  Collect and organize the gift that are being dropped off for Adopt-A-Family Recipients.  Dress festively and wear comfortable shoes as you will be pushing carts and unloading gifts from cars dropping off gifts.

Help deliver the cashier checks for families in need at the 9 Carlsbad Elementary Schools.  Everyone will meet up at Kelly Elementary School at 11am and we will all deliver the checks to Kelly and take photos and then we will divide up into 3 groups and each visit 2-3 other schools. Please be festive and wear holiday attire and help spread some holiday cheer!

It's going to be a great night and our RCC board is excited to tell you that we have a....

State of the club. Where are we now -- 6 months into the Rotary year.

Yum! Come show off your chili cooking recipes. It's a cook-off with blind tasting. We'll also be looking for contributions of cornbread, salads, and desserts.

Elena Romine will give us a sample of a course that she teaches at the Osher School on Blue Zones. Also, we will have reps from Osher briefly tell us about the upcoming semester and how to get involved.

Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary had invited us to join fellow Rotarians, family and friends to participate in their Harvest Pack Meal Packaging service project. We will package twenty thousand units of food which will be donated to the San Diego Food Bank to help meet the food insecurity needs in SD County.

Our club is supporting the Rotary District 5340 Youth Instrumental Music Competition and invites members to attend our local evening competition round. Student musicians will perform, and our club will select two students to advance to the next level of the district competition, with our support.

Join us for an enjoyable evening of music and youth talent.

President-Elects are treated to an amazing weekend of leadership skills training and inspirational speakers in preparation for their upcoming club presidencies. By invitation only with advance reservations.

Carlsbad Rotary Club will be throwing a Prom Dance Party fo seniors attending the Carlsbad Senior Center -- this is a joint effort with the Sage Creek InterAct Club.  The theme is Starry Night -  “think- stars, silver, gold, black, navy, glittery things”.

• Help with light snacks to make, or purchase & handout

• Assist with event setup (11:30AM -1:00PM)

• Help chaperone and engage with seniors during the prom

• Support with cleanup afterward, if available

The event will start at 1pm in the Auditorium, but we need volunteers to help set-up and decorate from 11am - 1pm and also to help with the photo booth and other activites during the event.  Our very own Mario will be DJing and we encourage everyone to attend and enjoy hanging out with our seniors and supporting the event. Ray Pearson is bringing mentors and mentees from CHS together to talk about this valuable program. We will hear about how these partnerships are preparing high school students for the world beyond graduation.

We will also be hearing from a young student entrepreneur who has created an intriguing game and is trying to get it to market. 

Please join this quick & easy volunteer effort with our InterAct Club at the Army & Navy Academy. We will build 400+ school supply kits (pencils, erasers, scissors, crayons, etc) for underprivileged kids who are served by Words Alive, a non-profit whose mission is to share the love of reading.

Not only a good way to serve the community, but also a great chance to interact with one of our InterAct Clubs!

Donuts will be served, so please register to get your share!!

Please join at the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation to help out with a trail or other outdoor project.  Wear clothing and shoes appropriate for outdoor work on the trails or on the grounds.  Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.

Mary and Bob Meigs have been supporting this amazing school for years, through their Foundation, but also through personal student mentoring and hands-on help at the school. Find out why this school, that serves underprivileged students, has such an outstanding reputation and why its students have a graduation and subsequent success rate that exceeds the results of standard public schools.

Also -- come to hear our exchange student, Fem Govers, recap her year in Carlsbad. She'll be returning home soon afterwards, so this is your chance to wish her bon voyage.

There is something for every member at the district training assembly. 

Very important if you are a board member.

Essential that we have at least two people doing the grants training. We cannot get district or global grants if we don't have people training here!
